Gloria "Anne" Hood

PORTAGE - Gloria "Anne" Hood, age 81, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2014 at Tivoli in Portage.

Anne was born in Milwaukee on June 5, 1932 to George and Alma Hood.  She graduated from West Bend High School and then completed the 3-year nursing program at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac. Later, she received her B.S. in nursing from St. Joseph's College of Maine. Her nursing career began at St. Joseph Hospital in West Bend. In 1967, she began working at Divine Savior Health Care in Portage, holding various positions.  Anne proudly was one of 12 registered nurses nationwide recognized for "Outstanding Managerial Performance" in the June 1980 issue of the Journal of Nursing Administration. She worked at Divine Savior Health Care for many years, and completed her last year at the Nursing home, before her retirement.  After retirement, she taught several nursing classes for MATC.  

Anne was a kind and generous person. She was very religious and donated to many charities. She also had many friends to whom she enjoyed writing letters and cards. Anne loved to travel and enjoyed watching baseball and musical programs. She loved animals and in her life, she had 2 pet dogs (Buddy and Schatze) that held a very special place in her heart.

Anne was preceded in death by her parents, her brother George, and sister-in-law Virginia. She is survived by her nieces and nephew, Eileen and Bill Ramsey of Fushear, Texas, Karl and Donna Hood of Anacortes, Washington, Linda Hood of Dallas, Texas, and Ann Hood of Houston, Texas.
 
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Portage, at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl presiding.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass at the church.
