Wm. “David” Bergh

ENDEAVOR  /  PORTAGE --  Wm. “David” Bergh, age 76, of Endeavor, passed away peacefully in the presence of his family on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at St. Clare Hospice House in Baraboo.

David was born on January 19, 1938 in Chetek, Wisconsin, the son of Andrew and Grace (Richards) Bergh.  He was married on April 25, 1959 in Franklin, Wisconsin to Mary Ann Elizabeth Wright.  David had worked briefly at American Motors in Milwaukee, retired from the Wisconsin National Guard, and owned and operated his own trucking company for over twenty-five years.  In his later years, he worked at Waimer Realty for his good friend, Jeff LaPointe.  He was a Past Village President of Endeavor;  was on the Endeavor Fire Department; was a member of Wild Turkey Federation in Portage; and was a member of the Endeavor Lions Club.  David was involved in many community activities in Endeavor.  He was an avid outdoorsman, and especially loved going fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann;  his children, Debbie (Dean) Paske, Township of Caledonia, Tony (Doreen) Bergh, Endeavor, Kristopher (fiancé, Jean Paramo) Bergh, Berlin, Jodi (James) Blue, Pardeeville, and Gary (Patti) Enoch, Spring Hills, Florida;  three brothers, Jonas Bergh, Oregon, Douglas (Peggy) Bergh, Endeavor, and Tim Bergh, Ft. Myers, Florida;  three sisters, Lucille Rogers, Oregon, Evelyn (Thomas) Perry, Muskego, and Mildred (Paul) Gorichs, Surprise, Arizona;  ten grandchildren, Ben (Jamie) Bergh, Jeremy (Kelly) Paske, Aaron (Hali) Bergh, Jennifer Paske, Laura (Tom) Rowan, Beth Martinez, Dan (Kyrstn) Bergh, Ruth Ann Bergh, Ashley (Winfield) Enoch-Scott and Malloree Enoch;  nine great-grandchildren;  other relatives and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Theodore David, his grandson, Jesse Martinez, his half-brother, Jim, his half-sisters, Florence Kruckenberg and Bernice Sanders, and his sons-in-law, David Martinez and Wayne Rainey.

Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl officiating.  Inurnment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery in Briggsville, with military honors provided by Briggsville area veterans.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
