Ruth A. Anacker

PORTAGE  --  Ruth A. Anacker, age 84, of Portage, passed away early on the morning of Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at the Columbia Healthcare Center in Wyocena.

Ruth was born on April 17, 1930 in Portage, WI to the late James and Mildred Bell. She was united in marriage to George M. Anacker on September 1, 1953.

Ruth devoted her life to caring for those around her.  Ruth raised three children as the proud wife of a railroad engineer.  Later in life, Ruth enjoyed spending time playing with her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and admiring their accomplishments as they grew into adulthood.  She valued the close relationships she had with friends in a weekly coffee clutch she attended for over 50 years.  Ruth loved music, bird watching, and vacationing to Florida every winter.

She is survived by her husband, George M. Anacker;  her children, Steven (Bonnie) Anacker of LaFarge, WI, Michael (Zindy) Anacker of Portage, WI, and Cathy O’Rourke of Portage, WI;  siblings, Jeanette Calkins of Oshkosh, WI, and Sharon (Harril) Barber of Valparaiso, FL;  brother-in-law, Kenny Wyman of Lakewood, CO;  and sister-in-law, Lucy Bell of Hot Springs, AR.  She is also survived by seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her infant son, Mark Anacker;  parents, James and Mildred Bell;  siblings, Betty (Russ) Seldal, Lulu (William) Fandrich, Lola May Wyman, Jerry (Anita) Bell, James Bell, and John Bell.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Portage, with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl presiding. Inurnment will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Portage. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the church. The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Portage or Save the Children.
