Thomas S. Gaffney

PORTAGE – Thomas S. Gaffney, age 62, of Portage, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 23, 2014 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, surrounded by his loving family.

Tom was born on August 21, 1951, in Portage, the son of Stanley and Betty (Sonnenburg) Gaffney.  He married Barbara Evans-Mickelson on April 27, 1985 at Big Spring.  He was the owner/operator of Gaffney Home Inspection.  Tom was a brilliant carpenter.  He loved deer hunting and being with people, especially being with his son Dominic and his family.  

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Gaffney, of Portage;  his son, Dominic (Heather) Mickelson and their children, Zoe Carrie-Ann and Mira Bella of Portage; a son, Brent Gaffney and a daughter, Kristy Gaffney, both of Richland Center; his mother, Betty Gaffney, of Briggsville; his brothers, Mike (Melodie) Gaffney and Charlie Gaffney, both of Briggsville; his sisters, Charlene Hopkins, of Washington State, and Ginny (Jim) Joyce, of Briggsville; his sister-in-law, Debb Jessup, of Madison, and her children, Jamie (Vicki) Jessup and their children Nathan and Nadine, of Middleton, and Seth Jessup and Whitney Jessup, both of Madison.  He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his father Stanley Gaffney, his daughter Carrie Ann Mickelson, his sister Susan, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law Bud and Betty Evans.                            .
